We are saddened by the unexpected loss of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Cathern Colleen Davis Roberts, born on March 19, 1946 in Provo, Utah. She passed away peacefully from a hemorrhagic stroke on February 5, 2025 at 10:15 am at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah with her family at her side. Cathie is survived by her husband, Glenn Roberts, and by her children Lori Mize (Rich), Mike Roberts, Kee Billie (Karen), Shane Roberts (Michelle), Jeremy Roberts (Kendra), Heidi Darnell (John), Justin Roberts, Brian Roberts (Bree), Brett Roberts (France) and was preceded in death by her son, Glenn B. Roberts. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Glenn and Cathie were married on October 18, 1962 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 7, 1964. Last October, they happily celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary.
Cathie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities, including Young Women’s Leader, Cub Master and Relief Society President. She loved to serve in any calling given to her.
Cathie knows and loves her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and lived her life exemplifying them by word and deed, in gratitude for the blessing of the gospel in her life and by leaning on them in faith while enduring and overcoming many trials. Many were blessed by her desire and ability to befriend, love and share the gospel she loved with everyone—be it the grocery checkout line, garage sale, post office or pulpit.
To say that Cathie was a light is an understatement. Countless were recipients of her bright light, friendship, kindness and loving acts of selfless service and generosity. She was truly a friend to all, especially to those in need of a friend. Her hilarious sense of humor and love of life were contagious. Sewing, crafting, cake decorating, learning guitar, decorating her home, acting, writing, singing, playing and spending time with her children and grandchildren were things she enjoyed. She once had a little story published in Reader’s Digest and even wrote a book. Cathie was a great teacher and patiently taught her children. They were inspired by her many talents and learned and enjoyed many of them also because of her example and the joy she found in them.
What Cathie enjoyed the most was being a mother. She always said that was what she had always dreamed of and loved to do. Not only was she an amazing mother to her own children, but also was a second mother to many unrelated people who called her ‘Aunt Cathie’. Her home was filled with love and the delicious smell of homemade food that she made with that love. Most of the time, there were extra friends at our long dinner table and plenty of food. Ours was the house where everyone was welcome and received comfort and joy because of her.
In her later years, Cathie enjoyed driving all over the United States and Canada with Glenn. One of her favorite places to travel to was Hawaii and they shared great memories of their adventures in the islands also.
After raising their big family, Cathie and Glenn were blessed to serve a mission in the Solo area of Jakarta Indonesia from March 2007-2008. In wanting to be able to communicate with the people, Cathie even learned the Bahasa language. Delivering 50 wheelchairs to those in need, teaching English classes, attending a Royal Wedding and teaching a dance to a Princess who requested it are among the many adventures they had while serving the beloved Indonesian people. Glenn would always say that it was Cathie’s mission and he was just there to support her.
Cathie loves Glenn and they are true sweethearts. She would always tell people that the secret to their long lasting marriage was to continue going on dates, holding hands and sharing a special moment like Glenn always giving her a kiss whenever they were in an elevator. Their love story is an inspiration to all. Their example of working together, overcoming trials, forgiveness, dedication, kissing and making up and selfless love blesses all of our lives. They both look forward to joyfully reuniting and spending eternity together.
