Meaningful Gift Ideas

Heaven gained an incredible angel as Colleen Money, 87, passed through the veil surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home.

She was born in Spanish Fork, Utah on October 23, 1933 to Eysten and Ida Harmer Johnson.

Colleen was the most genuine, kind, talented, fun-loving, charitable, amazing person and truly a selfless friend to everyone. She believed in being a life-long learner and took pride in getting straight A’s all through her educational career. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School, 1951, and soon after graduated from LDS Business College. Later, she worked as a secretary for Geneva Steel.

Colleen was sealed to her sweetheart, Richard Money, on September 27, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Spanish Fork and then moved to Springville to raise their four children. Colleen devoted her life to her family. She loved and depended upon her Father in Heaven and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a wonderful follower of her Savior as she faithfully served in many callings, including more than 50 years of playing the organ. After Richard retired, one of the highlights of their lives was serving a mission in Kirtland, Ohio. Together they shared their favorite message about the important historical sites and sacred events that took place in that beautiful area.

Colleen was creative and talented in many ways including quilting, sewing, crafts, writing, and most importantly music. Following the love for her Savior and her family, music was Colleen’s third true love. She was skilled at playing the piano and organ, and taught piano lessons for over 50 years. Colleen loved singing in the Musettes with her best friend and sister, Floss, and joined and played for many choirs throughout her life. Colleen made everyone feel loved. She was an inspiration, an example, and a light to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Money, and their children, Michael (and the late Toni) Money, Linda (Jim) Butterfus, Janet (Mike) Stapley, and John (Valeria) Money.

Colleen felt her role as a mother and grandmother was an important and sacred responsibility and she went above and beyond in that capacity. She is cherished and loved by her many grandchildren Caz Money, Tyler (Chantalle) Butterfus, Westley Butterfus, Kami (Jared) Wilkinson, Rachel (Aaron) Yearsley, Justin (Jodi) Money, Lynasia (Scott) Larsen, Kaleb Money, Jacob Money, Lydia (Alec) Russell, along with her many great grandchildren.

Colleen was welcomed in heaven by her parents Ace Johnson and Ida Johnson Mattinson; and siblings, June, Carol, Ace, Bernel; as well as her grandchildren Autumn Money; Gabe, Natasha, and TaNiesha Adams.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Maple Creek Care for their loving, devoted care during this last year. An extra-special thank you to Heather and Charity for their outstanding care and the love that was shown to Colleen.
