Graveside Service
West Jordan City Cemetery
1:00 - 2:00 pm (Mountain time)
Dale Norris Tenney, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2026, in Lehi, Utah. Dale was born on February 17, 1935, in Puerto Armuelles Panama, to Thomas R. and Jeanne Tenney. When he was 16 years old, he moved to the United States to finish high school. Dale was bilingual, utilizing the Spanish language up until his last days, especially with some of the nurses and helpers in his final residence.
Dale served as a United States Army veteran. He graduated with a Bachelor of Police Science from Weber State University and dedicated 20 years of service as an officer with the Utah Highway Patrol. Following his law enforcement career, he worked for the Utah Department of Wildlife Services as a dragline operator - the work his father also did in Panama developing banana plantations.
Dale was loved by many. His countless friends and loved-ones knew him for his independence and grit, but especially his generosity. Dale had a lifelong love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, spending days at a time on motorcycle trips through the western United States. Dale was passionate about personal freedoms, including the 2nd amendment. It was of great importance to him to teach his loved ones how to protect themselves, and how to drive on the road safely.
Dale loved the outdoors and dreamed of being a cowboy when he was young. He grew up working on farms and ranches in Central America, as well as in the United States after immigrating. Dale always wore cowboy boots and hats, rode horses, watched old westerns, and loved old country music. He noted when he was young living in Idaho working on farms, he would carry a machete with him for personal protection, making everyone nervous.
Dale was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dale’s proudest calling for many years was serving as a Ward Clerk. Dale often spoke of the Savior, and salvation. Dale spent his last days reading scripture and listening to the words of the Prophet.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Ann (Mike) and Lisa (Eric); his grandchildren, Jessica (Elecka), Melissa (Mason), Alexander (Ashley), Savannah (Jaden), Breanna, and Haylie (Col); and his great-grandchildren, Brinley and Kylen, who knew him lovingly as Papa “Squared.” Dale had an immense love for his grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Vaughn.
A special Thank You to the staff at Abbington Manor Senior Living and Bristol Hospice for their love and care of our Dad.
