Gloria Worthington, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 6, 2025, at her home in Springville, Utah, at the age of 77 after a long battle with cancer.
Gloria was born to Raymond and Norma Roundy in American Fork, Utah on March 29, 1948. She was the middle child with two brothers, Ray and Michael. She grew up in American Fork, Utah and graduated from American Fork High School. Gloria attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. While attending BYU, she met her sweetheart, Kent Worthington. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 25, 1969. After their marriage, they moved to Gunnison and built a life they loved.
Gloria was friendly, cheerful, and able to talk and connect with anyone. In her lifetime, she fostered many endearing friendships. Gloria was an ardent reader. For several years, she worked as a librarian for Gunnison City. Gloria also loved teaching, whether in a Kindergarten classroom, teaching the high school curriculum at Central Utah Correctional Facility, or teaching a lesson at church.
Gloria and Kent are the parents of six children. Traci (Kelly) Crowther, Greg (ToriAnn) Worthington, Aaron (Steph) Worthington, Brent (Amber) Worthington, Jed (Lindsay) Worthington, and Jared (Stacey) Worthington. She has 31 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The best thing that came from having children was grandchildren. Let's be honest: if she could have had the grandkids first, she would have. After she retired, they sold their home and moved to Springville to be closer to her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She adored them. She was their cheerleader, confidant, safe place, book club buddy, candy supplier, and #1 fan. Gloria's spirit will forever remain woven into the fabric of her family's lives.
Gloria was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in various callings throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Norma Roundy and her infant sister, RuthAnn.
