Luke Carter

July 26, 2002 — May 18, 2021

Luke Masakazu Carter, 18, born July 26, 2002 in American Fork, Utah, died in Aubrey, Denton County, Texas on May 18, 2021.

Luke Masakazu Carter, the second of seven children, born July 26, 2002, in American Fork Hospital, to Joshua and Paulette (Watabe) Carter. He lived most of his 18 years in Springville, Utah. He and his missionary companion, Elder Eli Fowler died in an automobile accident on May 18, 2021 while travelling home after serving the homeless people of the Denton, Texas area.

Luke had a great start to his formal education with his favorite kindergarten teacher, Alisa Morgan. He graduated from Springville High School and was really looking forward to attending Brigham Young University when he returned from his mission. Some of his school highlights included raising a pig for FFA, playing tennis, and spending time with his friends. He loved serving on the Church Seminary Council, and serving in various church callings.

Luke enjoyed playing soccer, ice hockey, and working at Hogi Yogi and later Gandolfos for a bit. He also enjoyed meeting and making new friends when he worked for BYU Dining Services and Special Events. Luke blessed us with many ukulele and guitar songs. He radiated a love that made anyone he met feel like an instant friend. Luke loved people, so serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was something he was so excited about and looked forward to doing. He was so happy to learn Japanese in order to teach the people in Sapporo, Japan about Christ, but was equally excited to serve in the Texas Fort Worth mission.

He loved the members and missionaries of the Denton area with whom he served. He genuinely loved living life and was always so positive and happy.
