Margot (Witt) White of Fresno, CA, 92 years old, passed away February 9, 2023 in Springville, Utah. She was born 14 March 1930 in Hamburg, Germany to Herman Witt and Käthe Hillers. She married Robert Earl White. They were married in the Stanford Chapel in Palo Alto, Santa Clara, CA on 21 June 1956.
Margot immigrated with her parents to Southern California in 1935. They lived in Anaheim, La Habra, Beaumont, Fullerton, and Buena Park. She attended Fullerton High School as a freshman and graduated from La Habra High School. Margot received a B.A in Anthropology and Teaching Certificate from Redlands College. Christened Lutheran in Germany. Her brother Gerhard was healed from encephalomyelitis with the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner. She and her mother then practiced Christian Science. Margot was a reader for the church services while attending Redlands. After marriage to Robert White, she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint.
Margot lived and taught in San Jose before her marriage. Later Bob and Margot lived in Oakland, then moved to Fresno, where Robert worked as an attorney for the Fresno County Counsel. Margot taught 35 years for Fresno County School District at Frank M. Lane, Holland, and Slater Elementary Schools. She sang in church and community choirs, ran, hiked with her late son Brian, skied and loved visiting Shaver Lake. She served a mission to Hamburg, Germany when she was 70.
She is survived by her eldest, Diana Erica Gonzalez of Springville, Utah; youngest son, John Andrew White of Fresno, CA.; 10 grandchildren-David Barrett Gonzalez, Jennifer Dawn Gonzalez, Adam MZ Gonzalez, Joseph Eric Gonzalez, Cristina Marie Cole, Anita Chere Brunetti; and Allison Meredith Riggin, Elizabeth Ainsly Diaz, Alex Sergey White, Mikhail Sergeyevich White; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert Earl White, brother Gerhard Witt, and son Brian Fitzrobert White.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel on 900 South and 1460 East in Springville, Utah at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 10:45 am.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Fresno Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 175 South Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA 93706. The plot is in the Prayer Garden.
