After a short struggle with cancer, Patricia Ann Brooks passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Pat is survived by her husband Ashley and her children Danielle (Russel) Albright, Heather (Amy) Brooks, Michael Brooks, Laura (Chevi) Sutton, and Melissa Brooks, as well as eight grandchildren—Ryah, Austin, Allison, Gabriel, Ethan, Allen, Brock, and Calvin, and three step-grandchildren—Gavin, Alexis, and Cooper
Patricia was born 11/06/1947 to loving parents Veronica Maruska (Liegman) and Donald J. Maruska in Jamestown, North Dakota.
Pat was the oldest of four children: Donald David (wife, Debbie), Michael Joseph (wife, Dawn), and John James (deceased; wife, Patricia).
She was preceded in death by son Ashley Allen Brooks III, mother Veronica Maruska (Liegman), and father Donald Maruska.
Pat attended St. Johns Academy in Jamestown, ND K-12th grade and was a nurses’ aide through most of high school at a local hospital.
She was introduced to Ashley Brooks by a mutual friend in her junior year and they dated from then on. Pat and Ashley were married September 9, 1967 in the Catholic Basilica of Minneapolis, MN.
Pat worked as an assistant at a physical rehab facility in Grand Forks, ND while Ashley finished his BSBA degree at the university.
Pat and Ashley moved to Pensacola, FL when Ashley joined the US Navy AOCS flight program for pilot training. They also lived in Milton, FL; Corpus Christy, TX; New Orleans, LA where Allen was born; and San Jose, CA where Danielle was born.
They bought their first house in San Jose and were introduced to the church by their neighbor Elder Robert Lloyd. After only two discussions, they moved back to Minnesota where they were loved into the church and baptized into the Minneapolis 1st Ward.
They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in April 1977. The blessings of the gospel have poured upon them all these years. Four of these blessings came in the form of additional members of their family. After a miracle operation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Heather was born, then Michael, then Laura, then Melissa.
Pat loved being a stay-at-home mom. She loved teaching the Primary and being a teacher many times with the Young Women.
Pat and Ashley moved a few more times before ending up in Springville, UT in 1996. Many children in their ward have have grown to love Sister Brooks. She has many friends who love her as she also loves them.
Pat is Ashley’s best friend and loving wife for 58 years, the love of his life, and the best loving mother to six wonderful children.
